President’s Message

January 2026

Another year has come and gone, and we now turn toward a new season and a fresh start.

Our first meeting of the year will take place on the third Thursday, not the first. Since the first Thursday happens to be New Year’s Day, we figured that anyone who celebrated New Year’s Eve properly probably wouldn’t be in meeting shape the next morning.

Looking back, last year was an exceptionally strong one for our club, thanks in large part to the dedication and leadership of our board. I’m hopeful that I can do my part to help make this coming year just as successful. The good news is that most of the board will continue in their roles, with only Jack stepping down. His leadership over the past several years has been invaluable. Jack has always embodied the welcoming spirit of Midori—greeting new and longtime members alike with open arms, even through the challenges of a pandemic.

Our holiday party was a wonderful way to close out the year. The food was fantastic, the company even better, and the generous selection of bonsai trees and materials made for an exciting auction. A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who donated items and to those who bid so enthusiastically. Your support helps keep our club strong and puts us on solid financial footing for the year ahead.

And now—repotting season is upon us! It’s one of the busiest times of the year, but also one of the most energizing. To get us ready, JT will be leading a repotting demonstration at our third‑Thursday meeting, helping all of us get on the right track for a successful season.
