🌿 First Thursday — Pot Selection with Valerie Monroe

I’m excited to announce that for this First Thursday, Valerie Monroe will be joining us for a demonstration on pot selection. As many of you know, I’m a sucker for a beautiful pot—but a great pot doesn’t always make a great pairing. Matching the right container to the right tree is an art of its own.

Whether you’re new to bonsai or have been shaping trees for years, the process of choosing the right pot follows similar steps and principles. Valerie will lead a fun, interactive discussion focused on styling ideas and container theory—how pot choice can elevate your tree’s presence, balance, and story.

If you’re ready for fresh ideas on an updated pot or a new styling direction, bring a tree and pots. Valerie will be offering hands-on guidance and suggestions.

🌳 Midori Annual Show

October 3rd is fast approaching, and hopefully you have selected one or two trees you would like to show.  With that in mind, we will be having a signup list at our meetings going forward so that we know the number of trees that will be shown. 

If you have been to our shows in the past, you know that we don’t just show trees that are perfectly manicured, but we also give you the opportunity to show your trees that are in training.  This gives an opportunity for everyone to show your work even if you are just getting started.
