Hello Everyone,

The bonsai pot exhibit at Hakone Gardens is now up — and it looks fantastic! Thank you all for your beautiful work and contributions.

I'll be at the reception and would love to see any of you who can attend. If members plan to visit the show on another day, please note that the CEC building is occasionally closed for private events, so it’s a good idea to call ahead. Also, there is an admission fee to enter Hakone Gardens.

The show will be on view through December 26, with one special note: the turtle pot will likely be on display only until September, as it may travel to New York for a competition.

Annual Live Auction and Member Consignment Sale

The American Bonsai Association Sacramento would greatly appreciate it if you could share our flyer regarding our annual Live Auction and Member Consignment Sale with your club members. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, with a live auction preview at 1:00 PM and the auction beginning at 1:30 PM. It will be held at the Shepard Garden and Art Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd, Sacramento, CA. Please note that buyers will be responsible for paying sales tax.

Golden State Bonsai Federation News

Dear GSBF Club Members,

As an educational organization, Golden State Bonsai Federation’s (GSBF) mission revolves around:

Advancing public interest and knowledge in bonsai.
Supporting its 50 member clubs with its “Give Back” grants, resources, events, and training.
Preserving historic bonsai specimens through its three public bonsai collections.

To assist this undertaking, GSBF hosts its biennial Bonsai Rendezvous, this year on October 24-26, 2025. This special event features a wide array of workshops and seminars for registered participants, along with silent auctions and raffles that raise critical funds to support GSBF’s mission.

To ensure the success of fundraising activities, we are asking each club to contribute a donation of bonsai related items and/or use the attached “Donation Letter for Businesses”, to solicit donations from local nurseries, artisans or vendors for the Rendezvous.

We also encourage individual club members to contribute “quality” items for donation or consignment. Consigned items will receive 70% of the final bid price to the seller, with 30% benefiting GSBF and its ongoing educational programs and bonsai exhibits. It is most helpful if donations or consignment items are checked in at the Rendezvous on Thursday afternoon or Friday between 8 – 10 am. However, we will gratefully accept contributions at any time during the event.
