President’s Message

December 2025

To start, I would like to wish everyone in our club a joyous, happy Christmas Holiday that will bring everything that you ever imagined to your life and family. It's that special time of year when we bonsai hobbyists can dream about possibly receiving those special bonsai tools we needed, or that pre-bonsai tree you always wanted. Life is full of surprises at this time of year, when the act of giving and receiving can mean so much more.

Which brings us to our club’s Holiday Christmas Party and Auction at our first meeting in December.  What better way to finish out the year than with fellow bonsai club members gathered together, sharing a delicious meal we all can contribute to.

That evening, our holiday meal will be followed by our Presidents review of this past year’s programing along with our club’s annual board election. A resolution will be brought forward at that time for the present presiding members and other new members to be elected. Everyone in the club should be very proud of how the club has been run this year, so please, let those who are taking the lead know your appreciation.

Our club’s auction follows immediately!

Our auction that evening is always a great highlight, and relies solely on the generosity and support of club members who can bring in trees, pots, tools, soils, and whatever you have that is bonsai you are willing to donate. The club receives 100% of the sold item price, as this is the biggest fundraiser the club supports annually. It is a valuable necessity for the continued programs we offer.

Following our auction, we ask that all who purchased items that evening please line-up at our pay desk and show your number you received that evening and take care of your bill for purchased items. Since this is the end of 2025, we ask that you care for your 2026 club membership fees all at the same time. The new prices for club membership is $60.00 for individuals, and $70.00 family yearly. Available this year is payment by means of cell phones, credit cards, or Applepay.

What to bring to our holiday program, December 4th 2025

Our Christmas meal begins at 6:30 that evening, so make sure your food items are present by then and ready to be severed with a serving utensil. We ask that you bring your own plates and utensils, and should you prefer, your own form of alcoholic beverages. Water and champagne will be available with your meal.

In addition, you will need whatever items you would like to sell that evening along with your check book or other means of payment. Everyone will be given a card with a number on it that you'll raise when bidding on any items, this will be passed out at the beginning of the auction. The bidding really gets to be a fun event amoung bidders!

Important: meeting adjustments for dec & jan

Our second meeting in December will be canceled, due to the closeness to Christmas and since so may people are busy and traveling at that time.

Our first January meeting will be on our usual second Thursday scheduled meeting, January 15th (due to the first Thursday of January falling on New Years Day).

In other words, we have no meetings after our Holiday Party in December until January 15th, when John Thompson will be doing our first program of the year on repotting our trees.

Happy Holidays, Everyone! 🌲
