We are privileged to once again have Eric Schrader as our guest speaker for this month's program meeting on Shohin—the art of very small bonsai.

The days are getting longer and warmer, and the sun angle has been increasing, so we need to get into watering mode now, as the growing season is in full swing. My shade cloth is up and operating!

April means the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and with that, our annual bonsai show will once again take place at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino.

This spring the weather has been all over the place. It obviously can’t make up its mind. However my trees are pushing ahead with gusto.

Over the years, no one has been more reliable than Bob Shimon of Mendocino Coast Bonsai as a vendor of collected bonsai trees and pots at all our shows. Bob will be sharing with us a Mendocino Pygmy Cypress first Thursday evening.

The rainy season has been spotty so far, with intense downpours and long dry periods. We’ll see how it pans out going forward.

With spring just around the corner, please everyone, pay close attention to the many Bay Area bonsai activities that are listed in our monthly newsletter. Also, our annual Tree Improvement Program that we all look forward to each year. Everyone is invited to participate!

Welcome to a new year, Midori Bonsai Club! We're putting last year behind us and introducing exciting new programs that will hopefully move everyone forward with this bonsai craze we all love.

This year, Juan Cruz will devote the first program to transplanting. I’m looking forward to learning something new or a clearer way of expressing the process.

Here we are at the end of another year for the Midori Bonsai Club. December brings with it our Holiday Season, a time to be thankful and to reflect on the good things it has brought us.

It’s a good time to study the future of your trees and by mid month, the nights are going to be cold.

Congratulations must go out to everyone who had a hand in making this year's Midori Bonsai Club show a complete success.
